Among the iEdge SG All Healthcare Index constituents, Medtecs International was recipient to the highest net institutional and net proprietary inflow (S$8.2M) proportionate to market capitalisation (S$505M) in the 2Q21 to 18 June. Index constituents that generated double-digit total returns in 2Q21 to 18 June included First REIT (23%), Riverstone (15%) and Q&M Dental Group (14%)
Founded in 1993, OTS Holdings has established itself as a brand builder and food manufacturing group in the consumer industry with a strong niche in ready-to-eat and ready-to-cook meat products. OTS Holdings operates the flagship brands of “Golden Bridge” and “Kelly’s”.
In May 2021, 21 SGX primary-listed stocks bought back 36 million shares for a total consideration of S$91.1 million. OCBC commenced a new buyback mandate in May, acquiring 4.21 million shares at an average price of S$12.16 per share. The preceding mandate saw OCBC acquire 6.66 million shares which represented 0.15 per cent of its outstanding shares excluding treasury shares.
During this earnings season to date, 17 S-REITs have averaged DPU growth of 25%, with SPH REIT, Mapletree Commercial Trust, AIMS APAC REIT, ARA LOGOS Logistics Trust and Frasers Centrepoint Trust, among the S-REITs posting the highest y-o-y DPU growth.
In April 2021, 16 SGX primary-listed stocks bought back 23 million shares for a total consideration of S$48.5 million. Of the stocks that conducted buybacks in April, Global Investments has bought back the largest percentage of its issued shares on the current mandate.
Econ Healthcare (Asia) Limited (SGX:EHG), a private nursing home operator in Singapore and Malaysia, made its debut on the SGX Catalist. It currently operates 10 medicare centres and nursing homes in Singapore, Malaysia and China, with the establishment of Chongqing Nursing Home, which is expected to commence operations in 2021.
On 17 April, the 7-day rolling average of daily new confirmed cases of COVID-19 moved above its January 2021 high, to 766,231 cases. SGX listed medical supplier stocks - Top Glove, Medtecs International, Riverstone, UG Healthcare and Aspen Group have all gained in the April month to 16 April, averaging 11.7% gains over the 11 sessions.
Effective 13 April 2021, Frasers Logistics & Commercial Trust has joined the STI with an indicative weight of 1.3%, taking the number of REITs within the STI to 7, with a combined Index weight of ~15%. This makes REITs the 3rd largest Sector by Index weight of the STI after Financials and Industrials.
Singapore’s 21 most traded non-STI stocks in the 2021 year-to-date have traded S$220 million in turnover a day, 15% of the total turnover of all stocks and trusts listed on SGX. Thomson Medical, iFAST & ISDN led the 21 stocks in the year-to-date.
For 1Q21, there were 37 SGX primary-listed stocks that conducted buybacks over the quarter, with consideration totaling S$134 million. Over the quarter, the Straits Times Index (STI) gained 11.3%, and the buyback consideration represented 0.01 per cent of the S$943.8 billion in market capitalisation of all stocks listed on SGX as of 31 March.
