New data centre announcements continue to accelerate in ASEAN with more potential power demand being underwritten as these data centres ramp up.
Growth opportunities from AI
For instance, Google has announced a US$2b investment in Selangor, Malaysia to develop a data centre and cloud hub, while Singapore has announced a Green Data Centre Roadmap to provide at least 300MW of additional capacity in the near term, with much more through green energy deployments. This is to support the country’s ambitions for the digital economy as demand for AI and computing grows.

Meanwhile, Sembcorp also announced recently the addition of three Vietnam Singapore Industrial Parks (VSIP) to its portfolio. These new projects build on the group’s extensive presence in the northern, central, and southern regions of Vietnam, where each region presents unique locational advantages for the manufacturing industry.
